Bikeability (Cycling Proficiency)
As a Dept of Education registered Bikeability centre we are able to deliver all aspects of the programme required to support children develop safe road cycling skills. The programme consists of 4 progressional levels including learn to ride sessions. Level 1 and Level 2 are normally delivered to Year 5 and 6 pupils. Level 3 is ideal for secondary school pupils. Level 2 and 3 are delivered in live traffic situations on quiet residential roads.
After School Clubs
Cycling is an exciting alternative to traditional provision for after school clubs providing the opportunity for skill development for all ages through games in the traffic free environment of the playground. We can also arrange trips to local skills tracks, centres or natural trails.
Provision for all ages, abilities and aspirations
Our Balance Bike and learn to ride sessions are popular provision and particularly suitable for early years and KS1 groups. We offer KS2 and KS3 children exciting opportunities to experience Mountain Bike rides and coaching that can include bike maintenance. Our instructors have extensive experience of working with children with additional needs ensuring our activities are inclusive to most pupils. The sense of achievement created within a child who learns to ride or completes a challenging ride is hard to beat.
Confidence in our activities
We have bikes available to hire to support all our activities ensuring barriers to access are removed. As an Adventurous Activity Licensed activity provider our instructors are highly qualified coaches with extensive experience. All are subject to enhanced DBS checks and first aid trained.
Wensleydale Bike Club
Wensleydale Bike Club is a British Cycling Go-Ride Club. Delivered on a voluntary basis by Stage 1 Cycles instructors it hosts 3 community classes on a Saturday during term time and Monday afternoon for local schools. There is a class suitable for all abilities including balance bike to technical MTB trails. In addition the club offers away trips and residential trips.
Further there is a bike library available which provides free of charge bike loans for participating pupils.
For adults there are regular ladies social MTB ride on Sundays.
Sessions are £2.50 per participant.
