Not Your Usual January! Learning to be an OS #GetOutside Champion

When you receive an email on the 7th December beginning:

“Congratulations!

We’re delighted to let you know that you have been selected as a Ordnance Survey GetOutside Champion for 2018. Welcome on board!”

You know that something a bit different is about to happen.

This is how I found myself in a room with 60 other people each with fabulous tales of adventure and daring deeds dressed in green and blue jackets. The guest list to this “meeting” in the beautiful New Forest included someone with a surname “Cool” (Kenton Cool), and Ben Fogle who talked about going up Everest in the same way as I plan a trip to Tescos. I spent the first hour thinking any minute now someone is going to ask me to leave.

They didn’t! and I have the jacket to prove it.

I am now officially part of a fantastic campaign delivered by Ordnance Survey– helping, inspiring and motivating family, friends, colleagues, and kids, to ‘get outside’ and enjoy the Great British outdoors more often.

Through the work we at Stage 1 Cycles undertake with the kids in Wensleydale Bike Club and other cycling adventures we aim to encourage everyone to get outside on their bike a little bit more than they did before. #ReasonsToRide Helen
